What we do
Young African Refugees for Integral Development (YARID) is a refugee-led, registered non-governmental organization based in Kampala, Uganda
YARID works with both urban refugees and settlement refugees through, education, protection, and vocational skills training in order to address social issues like ethnic conflicts, unemployment, public health, and lack of access to education.
YARID serves refugees from the Great Lakes Region: Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. In addition to populations from Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Ethiopia, and Eritrea.
Our doors are open to all.
Who we are
As of mid 2024, YARID has a diverse team of 105 employees. 75% have a background in forced displacement and
25% of staff are nationals (Ugandan).
50% of staff are women.
From Language and ICT Instructors, Vocational Skill Trainers, Mentors, Security Guards, to Senior positions., women are driving our organization forward,
Where we work

Kampala
Our main office is located in Nsambya Gogonya, off Kabega Road.
We operate with learning centres at 5 strategic locations in Kampala: Makindye, Rubaga, Kawempe, and Wakiso.
